Automation Technology Appoints New CEO
Automation Technology, the German developer of camera and sensor solutions, has appointed Daniel Seiler as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Automation Technology is a developer and producer of smart infrared cameras, 3D sensors and sensor solutions for process automation as well as monitoring and inspection tasks. Based in Bad Oldesloe, Germany, the company has more than 20 years of application experience in industries including automotive, plastics processing and electronics.
The newly appointed CEO will lead the company together with CTO and founder Dr Andre Kasper. Seiler, a 43-year-old engineer, takes over the operational tasks of the previous managing director and founder, Michael Wandt.
Seiler said, “The products from AT have enormous growth potential and I am very excited to see the further development together with the dedicated team at AT. I am particularly fascinated by the fact that our 3D sensors and infrared cameras are used in almost every industry and that we have developed very exciting applications. As a result, our customers benefit from our expertise – and we look forward to continuing these exciting success stories”.
Born in Hesse, Seiler studied electrical engineering in Darmstadt with a focus on communications engineering and later completed an Executive MBA in Frankfurt alongside his work. Beginning as an application engineer at IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH in 2005, Seiler led the company’s US location in Boston for four years before becoming Managing Director at the headquarters. Two years later, he became the CEO of laser technology startup Cycle GmbH, during which time he supported Automation Technology as a member of the advisory board.
“Daniel Seiler is the perfect candidate for me to take over from my previous position at AT”, said Michael Wandelt, who is now responsible for infrared product management in the company. “He learned image processing from scratch and has already successfully managed a medium-sized image processing company as managing director.
“In addition, thanks to his business development in the USA, he brings with him exactly the expertise that we need for our expansion plans. Daniel Seiler is therefore already very experienced in all the areas that we want to expand at AT and his personality also fits in perfectly with our strong team”.
The reshuffled management team will oversee the launch of Automation Technology’s new 3D camera series C6 which is planned for summer 2022.
